Amy| Fall Fields & Missing Teeth

Childhood Milestones

Do you remember how you lost your first tooth?  Where were you the moment it happened?  Losing your baby teeth is such an important milestone during childhood.  It’s when you first start to realize that you are growing up…

But not too fast!

There is still a sense of wonder that you have left to cling to.

Remember how you put on your pajamas and brushed your teeth that night before bed?  You slid your tongue across the gap – over and over – intrigued by the absence and strange new feeling.  When you rinsed your mouth out, you swished the water through your teeth 20 more times, just because it felt so different.   You slid beneath the cool sheets of your bed after carefully placing your tooth under the pillow and lay there wondering if the tooth fairy would remember to come.

Do you remember the sun filtering into your room the next morning to gently wake you?  What about the jolt of excitement that shot through your body when you remembered losing your tooth the day before?!  Best of all, do you remember the feelings of joy and wonder when you lifted the pillow and saw a surprise underneath?

Joy and wonder are a beautiful and irreplaceable part of childhood

“As children, our imaginations are vibrant, and our hearts are open. We believe that the bad guy always loses and that the tooth fairy sneaks into our rooms at night to put money under our pillow. Everything amazes us, and we think anything is possible. We continuously experience life with a sense of newness and unbridled curiosity.”

Amy is experiencing the joy and wonder of childhood right now.  Her heart is making memories of these moments.  I am so glad I was asked to capture her sweet smile during this major milestone in her life.  Now Amy can have a way to look back on her innocence and times of wonder and joy in her childhood.

P.S.  Amy is just as silly as the rest of her siblings!
